What are Learning and Employment Records (LERs)? What do adult learners and workers—and adult education providers—need to know about this emerging technology? Join Digital Promise to learn more about the design, value, and use of Learning and Employment Records: digital records of an individual’s skills, credentials, and employment history.

Over the last year, Digital Promise, a national education nonprofit, teamed up with workers in frontline sectors along with leaders in higher education, business, and technology to center end-user experiences and mitigate racial bias in the design of LERs. During this edWeb podcast, they share findings from their research and development project established to co-design and promote LERs for greater equity and inclusion.

Listeners develop a greater understanding of how LERs could be used to promote equity, transparency, and inclusion for adult learners facing complex education and workforce systems. Listeners:

  • Explore the value of LERs from the end-user perspective
  • Understand the experiences and perspectives of frontline workers in their efforts to navigate education and employment spaces, gain skills, and increase earnings, prioritizing Black and Latina women
  • Review LER Inclusive Design Principles and use cases

This edWeb podcast is of interest to teachers, librarians, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders at the high school and higher education levels.
