Like many rural, economically disadvantaged districts across the United States, Murchison ISD in Texas needed to address academic measures. What makes Murchison unique is that it took an all-hands approach, bringing in teachers, paraprofessionals and even custodial and cafeteria staff to lead small-group literacy interventions.

The district was able to expand intervention support from 30% to 70% of the student population by using an online tutoring provider to empower rigorous instruction at every level, for virtually every student.

This edWeb podcast explores how the district was able to bridge critical gaps in instruction and build a scalable tutoring and intervention program. This session looks at the barriers facing the educational community in Murchison and the catalysts they discovered that have transformed learning outcomes for students.

This edWeb podcast is of interest to PreK-8 teachers and school and district leaders.
